Fulani Herdsmen Do Not Care About the Military Presence in Benue State - Ortom


The governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom have raised an alarm that the Fulani Herdsmen have increased the number of their cattle in Benue state after the deployment of soldiers in the state.
Samuel Ortom, on Monday, February 26, reportedly complained about herdsmen attacks and pointed out that there had been influx of over one million cattle into the state after an operation launch by the military.

The Operation Ayem Akpatuma was launched by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, at Guma local government area of the state.
According to reports from Benue, Governor Ortom raised the alarm on the influx of several cattle at the gravesite of 73 victims of herdsmen when he led the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche and his wife, Becky Enenche to the place.

The governor begged the military to help flush out the alleged invaders so that the over 160,000 displaced people who were in eight camps could return to their homes.
According to Ortom, after the mass burial of the 73 persons killed by suspected herdsmen in the New Year attacks, more than 60 people have also been killed.
He revealed that three of the victims were killed recently in Guma local government area by herdsmen.
