APC, CAN Condemned Anambra Church Terrorists Attack

APC Government can't guarantee security to her citizens, and CAN can't protect their followers. All the same, let the government fish out those who perpetrated the heinous massacre of innocent people.

The All Progressives Congress, APC has condemned the Sunday morning attack on St. Phillips Catholic Church in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, which led to the death of scores of worshippers.

APC in a statement signed by its spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, condoled with the Catholic Church in Nigeria as well as the government and people of Anambra State.

“The APC condemns the barbarism displayed by the callous attackers who gunned down defenceless people while they worshiped.

“The Party calls on security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are promptly apprehended and brought to justice”, it said.

The Party also called “on security agents in Anambra as well as other parts of the country to provide adequate security in places of worship to forestall a repeat of this unfortunate incident”.

Similarly, President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, has commiserated with the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano and the families of the victims.

His spokesman, Bayo Oladeji, in a statement quoted the CAN leader as condemning the act as “a madness the all of us must condemn in strong terms”.

Ayokunle said: “What are these silly gunmen here and there turning our nation to be? Whatever may be the reason or reasons for this dastardly act cannot justify this criminal jungle justice.

“I urge the Federal Government through the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, in particular to address the issue of proliferation of arms and ammunitions so as to make our world safer.

“The perpetrators of this ungodly act must be brought to book without delay. I call on the Police to fish out those responsible and there must not be any cover up. Enough of these killings in the country.

“If the places of worship are no longer safe again, what has become the security of lives and property?

“We pray to God to console and comfort all the bereaved and heal those who are recuperating in the hospitals.”
